Sometimes, making a difference starts with getting your hands a little dirty.

On September 13, Pella Windows & Doors of Omaha and Lincoln joined the American Cancer Society’s Big Dig Omaha, a community event that brings the construction industry together to raise cancer awareness, support prevention efforts and strengthen the future of the workforce.

Big Dig Omaha gives children a chance to get behind the controls of real construction equipment, from excavators and lull lifts to scissor lifts and more. Through hands-on experiences, young participants can explore the tools and skills that shape the world around them.

For an industry built on bringing ideas to life, giving the next generation an opportunity to experience construction firsthand is a meaningful investment in the future.

Pella joined the fun with a display of Pella double-hungwindows, inviting guests to test their durability by stress balls at them. It was a playful way to engage attendees while showcasing products designed to stand up to the demands of everyday life.

But the Big Dig was about more than construction. As Omaha’s Construction Industries Signature Community Build, the event unites general contractors, skilled trades, suppliers, and industry partners around a shared goal: making a difference in the fight against cancer.

Supporting cancer research and prevention takes a community effort. It takes people willing to show up, work together, and get their hands dirty for a more promising future.

At Pella Windows & Doors of Omaha and Lincoln, community involvement is part of a history that stretches back to 1967, when the local branch first opened its doors. The company’s roots are deeply embedded in the communities it serves, and its commitment to building a better future extends beyond the homes and businesses its products help shape.

Protecting the future is at the heart of what Pella does. Whether that means helping homeowners create spaces that last, encouraging the next generation to explore the building trades, or joining community partners to support a cause that touches so many lives, the goal remains the same: make a lasting difference.

At Big Dig Omaha, that meant celebrating young builders, connecting with fellow industry partners, and lending a hand in the fight against cancer.

Because building a better future takes all of us.
